Gyeongju Videos on the Korean Heritage Channel

The other day I was rummaging around on Youtube for videos to fill out a playlist on Gyeongjublog’s fledgling Youtube Channel and I stumbled across some amazing videos on something called the Korean Heritage Channel.  I know I use far too many superlatives on this blog already, but this channel features some of the best promotional videos I’ve seen produced on Korea.   Some might say that’s wouldn’t be too difficult considering the schmaltzy overdubbed travel schlock typically broadcast on Arirang.  However these videos are of a different class entirely.  They’re each brief 2 to 3 minute long vignettes of rich HD footage tastefully edited together with traditional music and subtitled commentary.

There’s little info about the channel itself and its website is all in Korean, but clearly this project has some sort of official backing and funding.  It’s produced over 92 of these videos featuring historical locales and scenic wonders all over Korea.  In honor of the coming Lunar New Years, I’m posting here  all 7 of the Korean Heritage Channel’s videos featuring historical sites around Gyeongju, like Bulguksa, Cheonseongdae, Anapji Pond and even some less popular spots like Chilbulam, Yangdong Folk Village and the Ruins of Gamunsa Temple.  Hope you enjoy them as much as I did.   Happy Lunar New Years!

I discovered these videos a while back while writing about the Danoje Festival, and I agree that they are well made.
